Maximize Your Space In New Kitchen Cabinets For Your Home

When you get new kitchen cabinets for your home, you know the problems that you have with the current cabinets and you want to avoid repeating these mistakes. One of the reasons many homeowners decide to replace their cabinets is that they realize that they do not have enough space, either in the cabinets themselves or on the counter. You also have to make sure the cabinets are accessible so that you don't have to stand on a chair to reach the items on the top shelf.

The shelves and cabinets above the countertop should be about shoulder height. The countertop should be at the same level as your waist. This means you won't have to bend down low or reach really high to take anything from your cabinets. Store the items you use most of the time on the shelves that are easiest for you to reach. The higher shelves, especially the ones above the refrigerator can be used for items that you only use occasionally. A really great idea is to have a pantry type cabinet with two doors that reach from the top to he bottom of the cabinets. When you open the doors, you have shelves and pull out drawers so that everything is at eye level.

Drawers should be deep enough to hold all your cutlery large items such as large forks and spoons. As a rule there are four drawers, three of which are deep and one narrow. You should make sure they slide easily so that you don't have to strain yourself trying to pull them out and that you can pull them all the way out. The drawers should either be next to the stove or the sink so that you can easily reach the items you need when cooking.
